Maize shellers are used for shelling maize, as the name suggests. It is operated through a tractor’s PTO shaft. A maize sheller separates kernels from cobs. This equipment is used within the seed processing unit where harvesting of maize crops occurs. After husking is done and cob is dried, the implement is positioned. A maize sheller works gently by reducing any chances of harm to the germination capacity of the seed by rubbing the cobs. The counter pressure of the implement causes the corn to rub smoothly. This pressure to the outflow can be controlled by retaining flap. Hence, gentle and uniform maize shelling is possible. A maize sheller works best with a tractor of minimum 25 hp, and provides output capacity of 3000-3500 kg per hour.
